This training course will teach you the knowledge necessary to provide homeowners and home builders a detailed analysis of energy consumption and money-saving energy conservation strategies. In this course, you will learn how to help builders and architects improve home energy efficiency using the house-as-a-system approach. We will teach you the basics of building science, energy modeling, and how to conduct a rating on a home.

Prerequisites: None

Format: This 5-day course (40 hours) is available in live classroom settings. In addition to classroom training, each student will have the opportunity to complete two energy models during this course. On their first model, you will use a set of building drawings to predict energy performance of a home that is not yet built. On your second model, you will apply test data gained during field training to build a model of an existing home. Both models can be used to identify the most cost-effective energy improvement options available to a homeowner or home builder.
